Last Saturday Matt and I went to Fred Segal on Melrose to celebrate the release of “Vintage LA” by Jennifer Brandt Taylor. It was a fabulous little soire. The mayor of LA was there along with Rodney Bingenheimer and Boyd Rice! Plus, of course, Jennifer’s family. The top left photo shows Jennifer’s sister Lizzie and I. Next to it is Matt and I. Below on the left is a nifty vintage lover Sandra. Check out her site: DebutanteClothing.com. On the right is Jennifer at the table ready to sign books. So, I’ve gotten a chance to read a bit of the book (and look at plenty of pretty pictures). So far, it’s really great! It’s like a personal tour of fun things to do and see in LA for vintage fans and folk who love a bit of eccentric history.

Here's some pictures of my bounty of treasures!  Lovely Isis is holding one of my two racks of necklaces.  My jewelry box holds bracelets and pins mostly.  I have two cases of rings!  Oh yeah, there's that other rack of necklaces.  Most of my treasures were found at flea markets, thrift stores, Loehmann's, boutiques, and coin-op machines (yay, 25 cent rings!).  I suppose you might say I have an addiction…  To lovely plastic jewelry, gigantic cocktail rings and silly gaudy colorful baubles!

On the top left is an Italian murano glass necklace, $18.  Flower barrette (and handmade necklace not pictured), traded for green glass copper wire wrapped ring I made  : )  On the right, underneath my black vest is a transparent vintage shirt thrifted for half off $6 (that equals $3! oh yay).  The orange and blue floral dress was purchased for $14.  What a deal!!

Here's some pix of Portland friends Jake and Joanie!  We had wholesome fun playing the pretty board game Blokus and roller skating at Oaks Park.  Oaks Park Skating Rink is truly amazing…  There's a pipe organ suspended from the ceiling!  Matt learned how to roller skate for the first time and only fell down three times!  I fell down zero times which is a feat in itself.  I usually fall down at least once!!

One of my favorite, I guess, features of Portland is the moss!  I just love the rich hues of green, orange, and brown.  Check out the moss on Jake and Joanie's shed and also between the bricks of the wall that also features action figures.  ; )  Check out the tie dye on the jeans as well on the fiber Marnie will spin into yarn.  There's Matt enjoying a ride on the MAX, public transportation.  Plus a photo of Matt and I taken while at the Irish bar with Marnie, Leo, Joanie and Jake.  The pastries at Pix Patisserie are definitely drool worthy!  Enjoy with a beer float consisting of Portland's Rogue Chocolate Stout and mocha ice cream!

The theme of this photo collage is neon!  Check out Matt and I playing classic arcade games like Robotron, Ms. PacMan, Burgertime, Tempest, and Q*Bert at Ground Kontrol.  Also, some pictures taken at Portland's Red Light Clothing Exchange near Powell's Books and Reading Frenzy downtown.

Just look in my closet!! I recently visited the Torrance store… Other local stores include: Carlsbad, Glendale, and Canoga Park. Why are they in such weird inaccessible locations??? I don’t know… Anyway, the store I went to is pretty cool.
